Five days of Chandratal Lake trekking package will enable you to spend ample time amidst the flabbergasting serenity mixed with so much fun and excitement. Once you arrive in Manali, the beautiful expedition starts. Chika would be the first destination on the tour which is close to Manali. Vasisht Temple will be the stop point on your way to Chika. So many hot water springs will also give you a good time to relax.

    Arrival in Manali, Drive from Manali to Chika (10,100ft) (3km)

    The fun and excitement of this amazing Chandratal Lake Trek with Hampta Pass begins with your arrival in Manali. Following your check-in into a local hotel, and after getting freshened up, embark on a local sightseeing tour. Visit some of the local attractions and upon completion of lunch, take a short drive to Chika; en route, visit the sacred Vashist Temple and experience its hot water springs. Upon arrival in Chika, settle down in the basecamp and retire for the night

    Trek from Chika to Balu ka Ghera (11,900ft)

    After a wholesome and nourishing breakfast, set on an easy trekking trail that is supremely impressive! Today, you’ll experience the true beauty of the Himalayas as you set eyes for the very first glimpse of towering snow-capped peaks. These are the Dhauladhar ranges, the outer Himalayan chain of mountains. Walk through flowering meadows and valleys that create a delightful picture-perfect scenery for you to revel in. Cross a log bridge; over a fast flowing mountain stream, cautiously to arrive at Balu ka Ghera, the hibernating grounds for the great Himalayan brown bear followed by overnight stay in camps.

    Trek from Siagoru to Chatru (11,000ft), Drive from Chatru to ChandraTal
    4 Hours Trek, Pir Panjal Ranges, Chandra Tal Lake Compared to the other days, today will be an easier one! Beginning with the trek (after breakfast), start descending through the Hampta Valley. The magnificent Pir Panjal ranges of the inner Himalayan circle appear ahead of you! On the way to Chatru, you will be crossing through the stunning cold desert land of Spiti Valley with a dominating landform of its own. Arriving in Chatru, relax for a while and adore its scenic beauty. Hereafter, a drive through the magnificent trails and passes of Chatru will take you to Chandra Tal, where you will spend the night in Chandratal Lake camp.

    Drive from Chandra Tal to Manali.

By Train: Nearest Railway station is Ambala (350 kms) and Chandigarh (310 kms). Tip: Regular Volvo and Buses are available from Chandigarh to Manali in the evening. Volvo buses charges between Rs.700 to Rs.1,000 per sector from Chandigarh to Manali and vice versa

By Air: Nearest Airport is Bhuntar is 60 Kms. ​Bhuntar, which is 52 km away from Manali, is the nearest airport. Taxi services are available from Bhuntar to Manali, which costs about Rs.700‐ Rs.1,000. Bhuntar is well connected to Delhi by air. How is Chandratal Lake weather?
Except monsoon and high winter, the days at Chandratal Lake will be warm and clear with temperature between 10 and 15 degree Celsius and at night it falls down to 2 to 5 degree Celsius. On the last set of tourist season that is in October- November months, the amount of snow will be huge still, the temperature varies between 8 and 12 degree Celsius during day time and drops to 3 to -2 degree Celsius at night.

What is the best time to go Chandratal Lake Trek?
May to October is the best time for this trek. During monsoon time that is June to July, the roads will not be as cool as at other times and there will be non-stop rain. September is the best time to watch the rare birds and animals and the days will be clear. October is the season that is considered to be the time winter starts embracing the valley. It will be cold but it is a good time for trekking. From November to March, the roads will be very tricky and risk is high while doing trekking amidst the thick snow walls.

What is the level of fitness expected from the participants?
The fitter you are the more you'll take away from the experience. Take as much time as you can for cardio exercise and strength training, including core strength. This will make it far easier for you to trek and explore the terrain with your guide. Moreover, exercises aid in acclimatization for the trip. Experience of walking for long distances with heavy weights (at least 15 Kg) will be a useful preparation.

What clothing or equipment do we need to carry from our side?
Make sure to carry warm and comfortable clothing as temperature can drop, pack good quality trekking shoes, slippers and extra pair of socks. It’s advisable to carry sunscreen lotion or any other skin moisturisers as the sun at the top can be harsh. Water bottles and energy bars/snacks are advisable. A Flashlight (with spare batteries) will help once the sun goes down and it’s always smart to carry insect repellent and emergency medical kit.

Which type of shoes should I buy for Chandratal Lake Trek?
Good quality and sturdy trekking shoes that cover your ankles. Refrain from using sport shoes for your own safety and the trails are uneven and tricky hence requiring good grip trekking shoes. If you are buying new shoes for your trek, please remember to use them for at least a month before you commence your holiday.

What kind of food will be provided during this trek? What about safe drinking water?
You will be served Indian vegetarian food during this trek. Himalayan water is considered a clean and mineral water but to be on the safe side you will get boiled water with chlorine tablets.
