An astounding peak that reaches up to 4,220m (13,845ft), the Patalsu Peak boasts of its scenic beauty and enchanting appeal. Located within the close proximity of the picturesque Kullu Valley, this soaring peak makes for an ideal trekking destination and is also one of the most sought after trekking destinations in the region.
With moderate to challenging gradients, it entices a large number of trekkers from across the country. Though considered as a difficult one, the trekkers get rewarded with promising views and an amazing experience on completing this trek.

Short Itinerary :
  • Day 01: Old Manali – Solang Valley (13 km/7-8 hours)
  • Day 02: Trek from Solang Valley to Shahadugh
  • Day 03: Shagadugh to Patalsu Peak | Patalsu Peak to Shagadugh Duration: 6-7 hours
  • Day 04: Shagadugh to Solang Valley Duration | 5 hours

Day-wise details

  • Day 01 : Old Manali – Solang Valley (13 km/7-8 hours)

Report at the base camp Old Manali in the morning, After the registration, start you trek by heading to  Solang Valley after seeking blessings at the revered Manu Temple. The shrine is dedicated to Sage Manu, believed to be the creator of the world as per Hindu mythology. Post paying homage at the shrine, move to the Solang Valley.

Solang Valley, famous for its awe-inspiring beauty, the place looks stunning, covered in a layer of snow. Today the trek leads out of Old Manali village high above the River Beas along a well-defined path. We cross the two ancient villages of Shanag and Burua before reaching the beautiful Solang Valley which doubles as a Ski resort in winters It is the hub for many adventure activities, including paragliding, skiing and zorbing. Overnight camping in the lush green meadows  of Solang Valley 

Meals: Pack Lunch and Dinner

  • Day 02 : Trek from Solang Valley to Shahadugh

The day will be dedicated towards trekking from the Solang Nulla camp to Shahadugh. Starting in the morning, the trek for the day will take you through deciduous pine and oak forests; on your way, you can also spot game birds like Monals and Khaleej pheasants. Continuing through these scenic trails, once you reach a stunning-open meadow, you will be at the Shagadugh camp; overnight stay in the camp.

Buses/shared taxis are available to drop you at Volvo Stand or Mall Road Manali. You may go to Rohtang after your trek is over or get indulge into the paragliding, zorbing, rock climbing, rappelling, ride in cable car on your own.

Meals: Pack Lunch and Dinner

  • Day 03 : Shagadugh to Patalsu Peak | Patalsu Peak to Shagadugh Duration: 6-7 hours
Prepare yourselves for the longest and toughest section of Patalsu Peak trekking tour as soon as you wake up. The first hour of the walk will be through a mixed forest of conifers and oak. After this section is over, you will have scaled a substantial height, and the trees will disappear altogether. The rest of the trail is exposed, rocky and relatively unmarked. After about 4 hours of hiking, you will conquer the Patalsu Peak, which is roughly 13845 feet high. The journey will give you magnificent views of many snowbound peaks of the Dhauladhar and Great Himalayan ranges. Later in the day, start descending and retrace the path to the Shagadugh campsite.

Start your journey to Solang Nullah from Shagadugh early in the morning. Trip Ends.

By Road: Manali is well connected to Delhi. Take an overnight bus from Delhi and you will reach Manali in 12 ‐ 14 hours(approx 540 KMS). Tickets can be booked online at www.redbus.in or www.hrtc.gov.in
Tip: Since Delhi Manali is a long journey most Volvo private buses leave Delhi between 5 pm and 6 pm. The last govt bus leaves at 8.30 pm from ISBT Kashmere Gate. Volvo buses charges between Rs.1,000 to 1,400 per sector from Delhi to Manali and vice versa. Manali to Delhi: Like the onward journey, buses leave from Manali to Delhi between 4 and 5 p.m. Your tentative arrival at Delhi may be anywhere between 6 a.m and 10 a.m. Plan your onward journeys only post noon giving enough buffer for bus delays.

By Train: Nearest Railway station is Ambala (350 kms) and Chandigarh (310 kms). Tip: Regular Volvo and Buses are available from Chandigarh to Manali in the evening. Volvo buses charges between Rs.700 to Rs.1,000 per sector from Chandigarh to Manali and vice versa

By Air: Nearest Airport is Bhuntar is 60 Kms. Bhuntar, which is 52 km away from Manali, is the nearest airport. Taxi services are available from Bhuntar to Manali, which costs about Rs.700‐ Rs.1,000. Bhuntar is well connected to Delhi by air. The airliners that take you to this Airport are Indian Airlines, Kingfisher airlines, MDLR Airlines and Jagson Airlines, operating flights from Delhi and Chandigarh to Kullu.
