Detailed Itinerary

Manali, with plethora of treks, has gained huge popularity among trekkers and mountaineers. Bhrigu Lake trek is one of the best treks in Manali that presents fabulous views of this emerald valley.

  • DAY 1

    Report at Kolang | Trek to Mori Thatch Campsite 06KMS | 06 Hours

    Meet you guide at 10:00AM at Kolang Village situated 08 Kms from Manali on Manali Solang Highway and start a trek  to Kolang Nallah – Base Camp of Bhrigu Lake. we will reach Mori Thatch after 06 Hours of Trek. Carry sufficient water in your bottle as there are very limited/No source (depending on the season) of water before Kolang Nallah. There is a makeshift wooden bridge on this Nallah for most of months. After crossing the Nallah the camping site is another 1.5-2 hours hike away. Mori Thatch is a scenic campsite covered from 3 sides with mountains which gives excellent protection from winds. It is an ideal camping spot where the water source is flowing across the camping ground.The ascend till Mori Thatch is moderate and will take around 3 - 4 hours to reach. There are two streams on the way to the camp site (Chor Nallah and Kohli Nallah). Mori Thatch is a beautiful camp site and offers amazing views of the Solang Valley. Overnight stay in tents at Mori Thatch Camp Site.

  • DAY 2

    Trek to Bhrigu Lake | 12 KMS | 09 Hours | 14000 Feet

    We start the day early and post breakfast we will begin trekking towards Bhrigu Lake. It takes around 3 hours to reach Bhrigu. We will carry packed lunch and have it by the lake side. Care should be taken that no littering happens over here. According to many accounts Rishi Bhrigu meditated here and used to take bath in the holy water. After lunch we will descend to Mori Thatch campsite and relax for the rest of the day.

  • DAY 3

    Trek to Vashisth Hot Water Springs | 08 KMS | 06 Hours

    We will start the last day of the trek with a descent to Vashsith Hot Springs through the deodar forest ranges. This trekking trail is steep and takes you to the Vashisth. Here one can enjoy the dip in natural hot springs and relax after the trek. Trek ends. Alternatively, depending upon the weather and your trekking strength we may take a shorter and easy route through moderate descend around 04 hours to reach Kolang Village. You may have time to explore Vashisth or Manali or Solang Valley on your own.

When is the best time do Bhrigu Lake trek?
Starting from Mid May, till the month of September, trekking to Bhrigu Lake is absolutely allowed and travelers can plan accordingly. However the ideal time is before the month of June and after August since this is the monsoon time and there remains the probability of landslides in the region.

What level of fitness is expected from me?
This trek is fairly easy. But it makes a lot of sense to spend some time before coming on a trekking holiday getting some additional exercise. The fitter you are, after all, the more enjoyable you will find the experience. For this trip you need to be aerobically fit and also comfortable with walking up to 7 hours on some days.

What all things I should carry for the trek?

What kind of shoes I should have?
You should carry high-ankle trekking shoes. Different shoes are suitable for different kinds of treks, depending on the weather, trail condition as well as duration of the trek. For this particular trek, shoes with thick souls are recommended.

What will be the facility of food and water during the Bhrigu Lake trek?
There are proper meals with subsequent nutritional values planned for the people coming in for the trek. From dinner on Day 1 to Breakfast on the last day, all meals will be provided. This would include nutritional vegetarian meals, with the addition of tea and coffee during breaks.

What all medicines I should carry? Can I take diamox?
Carrying medicines is important while trekking anywhere in the world. Your first-aid should have anti-diarrhea medicine such as loperamide but make sure that you don't take it unless getting to a toilet isn't an option. During the trekking you may not have access to pharmacies. So it’s better to have medications ready. Yes, you can carry diamox and can be taken too if having sickness/nausea.

Will there be mobile connectivity?
Indian mobile networks do not work for most part of this trek. Vodafone and BSNL are the only mobile networks that work in patches along the way (but are inconsistent).

What will be the Bhrigu Lake temperature?
Trek April to May when it's quite comfortable (temperature ranges between 6 - 18°C) and the flowers like rhododendrons, orchid, primula are in full bloom. In May however there are chances of occasional showers and the sky remaining cloudy at times. The second season is between October to November when the bhrigu lake temperature ranges between 1 - 6°C, visibility is excellent and there may be occasional snowfall.
