4 Nights and 5 Days of Himalayan Winter Trekking Expedition in Dalhousie
Day 1   :   Reporting at the base camp Dalhousie – Orientation, briefing and nature walk. The participants will stay overnight at the camp - (2100 meters)
Day 2   :   Trek from Dalhousie to Kalatop Wild Sanctuary. This high altitude forest area is located at an average elevation of 2,500 meters above sea level and offers stunning views of thick pine, deodar, and oak forests and a plethora of various fauna such as the Himalayan Black Bear, Pheasants, and Himalayan Black Marten. Trekking is the best way to explore the beauty of this forest. Overnight stay in Kalatop. (Distance 08 Kms which involves a trek for about 6 to 8 hours)
Day 3   :   Trek from Kalatop to Khajjiar(Known as Mini Switzerland of India). It is located in Chamba district. We will cover Khajjiar Nag Temple which was built way back in 12 Century AD, Khajjiar Lake and Ground along with the villages of the valley and Panch Randav Trees. Overnight Stay in Khajjiar.
(Distance- 11 kms which would involve about 6-7 Hours Hours trek)
Day 4   :   Short trek from Khajjiar to Chamba transfer point and transfer to Dalhosuie Base Camp by bus/Jeep. Overnight stay in Dalhousie.
Day 5   :   Check out after the breakfast from base camp at Dalhousie, International Youth Club

How to Reach:
Distance by Road Though the drive might be a long one but the roads leading to Dalhousie or in and around nearby towns like Pathankot and Chamba are in good condition. Many deluxe, semi-sleeper, luxury and Volvo buses run from ISBT New Delhi covering a distance of approximately 590 kilometres. Most of the buses stop by the roadside dhabas and eateries. A lot of private companies, Himachal Road Transport Corporation and Haryana Road Transport Corporation run buses to Dalhousie. Tickets can be booked online at www.redbus.in or www.hrtc.gov.in
Nearest Railway Station The most cost-effective and convenient way to reach Dalhousie is by train. Pathankot’s Chakki Bank railhead is the nearest railway station from Dalhousie (approximately 71 kilometres). Many superfast, deluxe and express trains are well linked with most of the Indian cities including Jammu, Delhi, Jaipur, Bhatinda, Ahmedabad and Jodhpur. You also have the option to take an overnight train and reach Dalhousie in the morning. You can hire a private or a shared cab from the railway station which will take 2 to 3 hours to reach Dalhousie. The second nearest railway station from Dalhousie is Delhi which is well-connected to most of the Indian cities but from where you have to take a train again.
Nearest Airport While Dalhousie does not have its own airport, cities close to this hill-station do have one. The closest domestic airport is in Pathankot which is just 75 kilometres away from Dalhousie but is connected to New Delhi only. The second nearest airport is Gaggal airport which is in the Kangra district and is approximately 140 kilometres away from the town. The airport is well-connected to both domestic and international cities. You can hire a bus from Kangra to Dalhousie, which will charge a nominal fee of INR 150 only or take a private cab/taxi transfer.

We would love to host you, but in case you are unable to travel as planned and need to cancel your booking, do not worry. Our simple cancellation process makes sure you receive a quick confirmation and fast refunds. 50% Refund if cancelled 15 days before the reporting date.

Overview & Things to Know:
Reporting @ Camp: You need to report at the Base Camp International Youth Club – Dalhousie before 10:00 AM on reporting date.
Accommodation Type: Accommodation in Home stays on Triple or Quad Sharing Basis. There will be a separate accommodation for Males and Females.
Difficulty Level: Easy to Moderate - Beginners and Intermediate Level of Trekking
Age Limit: Members above 15 years of age may participate in the expedition. No upper age limit.
Things to Carry:
  • T-shirts, Trekking Pants, Windproof jacket preferably with a hood.
  • Warm and thick Fleece, Full-sleeve Woollen sweater, Thermal inner wear (upper & lower), Woollen cap, Woollen gloves, Woollen socks & regular socks (3-4 pairs), Scarf/muffler (optional).
  • Comfortable Trekking/Hiking shoes (shoes with a thick sole are recommended).
  • Lightweight floaters/sandals/slippers, Raincoat / Poncho.
  • Small light weight towel, Water bottle.
  • Sunscreen Lotion, Sun glasses.
  • Cap to keep the strong sun away from your face.
  • Walking stick / Trekking pole, Sunscreen Lotion, Lip Balm, Torch / Flashlight (with extra batteries).
  • Medicines (if requiring any specific medication).
  • Personal toiletries, Books, if you like reading.
  • Day pack/small bag which you will carry on your back every day and keep your essentials in it.
  • Camera with charged batteries.
  • Please avoid carrying expensive watches, jewellery and electronic items on the trek.
Important Note: International Youth Club takes utmost care to ensure safety of its members during the trekking expeditions. However, in the case of any unforeseen mishaps, International Youth Club will not be liable for any injuries caused or for loss of life. All disputes rising due to the above are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in New Delhi/Delhi only. All participants would be required to sign an Indemnity Form before the start of the program, without which they would not be allowed to take part in the trekking and expeditions.
 
Terms & Conditions:
  • All bookings are strictly subject to availability and confirmation by payment of Non-refundable Advance.
  • All payments to be made in advance.
  • No Check-in to the Base Camp without full payment confirmation.
  • No Check-in without valid Govt approved ID. Your id will be checked before Check-in.
  • No pickup/drop will be made on­route. No detours will be made for picking up/dropping people.
  • Departure time is given and is fixed. You have to report by that time. It's on you to update your status to trip coordinator. Anyone missing the check-in will not be entertained for refund etc and it will not be International Youth Club’s responsibility. We will try to call you twice before departure. Any phone not getting connected will not be IYC's responsibility.
  • Timings are sacrosanct. Two times follow up will be done on phone. If we are unable to reach/we do not get a communication, we will be departing. No refund will be made for late arrival no matter what the reason for the delay is.
  • We request not to travel with heavy luggage only light luggage or bags are allowed.
  • Management shall not take responsibility of a missing items during trip, hence requested not to travel with too much ornaments, jewellery, cash and other etc.
  • All our packages are ‘group packages’ and same services/items are applicable for each person in the group.
  • Any meal, activity or service not availed by the participants will not be adjusted in the package cost and non-refundable under any circumstances.
  • We do not allow drinking during the expedition. Anyone found drunk at the time of expedition will be refused entry and no amount will be refunded. International Youth Club also reserves the right to discontinue your trip at any point on the grounds of misconduct.
  • We entertain only those persons at the campsite for whom the booking has been made. No additional persons will be entertained under any circumstances until communicated through email at bookings@internationalyouthclub.org
  • We do not have any insurance policy covering the expenses for accident, sickness, loss due to theft or any other reason, guests are advised to seek such insurance arrangements in their home country. We shall not be responsible for any delays & alterations in the programme or expenses incurred­ directly or indirectly due to natural hazards, accident, breakdown of machinery, equipment's, transport, weather condition, sickness, landslides, political closures or any untoward incidents.
  • Numerous factors such as weather, road conditions, the physical ability of participants etc. may dictate itinerary change. We reserve the rights to change any schedule in the interest of safety, comfort & general well-being.
  • We reserve the right to revoke services of anyone not following the instructions of our guide during an activity. We reserve to right for cancellation in case someone misbehaves under influence of alcohol.

Purpose of the Expedition International Youth Clubs focuses to promote sustainable tourism to preserve country’s environmental heritage. We aim to bring about a positive change via encouraging benefits of sustainable tourism, intercultural dialogue and culture of peace, in association with local communities, which is a motivational force for sustainable practices. These communities play a pivotal role in preservation of cultural identities and natural heritage, and they become pressure point for an equitable local share in the economic benefits of tourism. We encourage all to come forward and join the expeditions to mark the change and protect environmental heritage.
Photography & Videography Competition All the participants may transfer and share their pictures/videos taken through the expedition at the base camp before check out from the camp by making folder in the name of participant in their respective batch folders in official laptop stationed at the Base Camp OR the same may be transferred through Google drive. The nominated jury will select the best 10 pictures to be published by the International Youth Club to showcase the expedition. The selected winners will get the opportunity to join in any of the expedition organised by International Youth Club within next one year as a token of reward.
Certification After successful completion of the program, the participating members will be awarded a certificate of completion the trekking expedition by International Youth Club.
